SHILLONG: The re- entry of defeated Congress candidate Gabriel Wahlang who resigned as MDC to join the fray for the Nongstoin by-poll, is not easy as the Chief Executive Member of KHADC P N Syiem said on Tuesday that the matter will have to be decided by the Executive Committee.
Wahlang, who was nominated to the Council, was the Deputy Chairman of KHADC before he quit the post to contest the by-poll.
When contacted, the KHADC CEM said that the issue of re-entry of Wahlang would have to be decided by the Executive Committee.
Earlier, Syiem had mooted the idea of adopting a resolution in the House through a special session after the Nongstoin by-poll barring a nominated member, who has already resigned from getting re-entry to the Council.
Syiem had said that the name of the nominated member should be proposed by a resolution through a special session, as per sub rule 2 of Rule 6 Assam-Meghalaya District Council Rule, 1951.
“The rule is clear and what we want is that after the Executive Committee proposes the name of the nominated member, it can be referred to the House as a resolution of the EC for the official approval,” Syiem had said
