SHILLONG: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has informed that the headman/ Sordar will resume their duty/position as before as per the Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Appointment and Succession of Chiefs and Headmen) Act, 1959 and as per rules under the Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Appointment and Succession of Chiefs and Headmen), Rules, 2015 and/or such Acts and Rules of the Syiemship/ Elakas framed for the matter.
This was informed in a notification issued by the KHADC Secretary here on Friday.
Nominated member: The Executive Committee of KHADC will meet on Monday to discuss the appointment of a new nominated member after the earlier nominated member Gabriel Wahlang had  resigned to contest the Nongstoin by-poll.
A KHADC source said on Friday that the CEM P N Syiem was not in favour of re-appointing Wahlang again.
Since Wahlang did not win the by-poll, there will be pressure on the part of the EC to re-nominate him.
However, the matter will be taken up on Monday to take a  final decision, the source added .
