SHILLONG: Shillong police have questioned several students in connection with the alleged question paper leak in the ongoing class IX internal examination.
Informing this here on Tuesday, a senior police, however, said that it would premature to say anything at this stage “since investigation is going on”.
The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) has warned of strict action against those responsible for an alleged question paper leak in the ongoing class IX internal examination.
The science and technology question paper was allegedly leaked here, leading to the filing of a police complaint and the institution of an inquiry by the board.
The board immediately rescheduled the science and technology exam from November 30 to December 4.
The board does not conduct the class IX internal examinations but aids in framing the question papers.
Apart from the alleged question paper leak here, the board has also filed two separate police complaints about the leakage of question papers in West Jaintia Hills and East Jaintia Hills districts.
The executive chairman of MBOSE, EP. Kharbhih, recently told newsmen that the heads of the schools that were designated as “deposit centres” for keeping the question papers would be held responsible for the safekeeping of the papers in strict confidentiality.
The heads would be liable to “stern disciplinary action” as well as legal action, as deemed fit and proper, if any shortages, non-availability and leakage of question papers, anomalies and discrepancies are reported.
The board is also contemplating of adopting stronger mechanisms to check future leakages. One of the mechanisms would be to deposit the question papers in police stations or banks.
