NONGSTOIN: The two-day Mawphanlur Tourism Festival organized by the Mawphanlur Integrated Village Cooperative Society in collaboration with the Meghalaya Village Development and Promotion Tourism Cooperative Society, Shillong was inaugurated by Minister in charge of District Council Affairs and Corporation, HDR Lyngdoh on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion Lyngdoh said that the purpose of the festival is to expose the beauty of Mawphanlur and promote it as a major tourist attraction in West Khasi Hills.
While encouraging the members of Mawphanlur Integrated Village Cooperative Society, Lyngdoh said that the Government through the Corporation has taken initiatives to help the society with an amount of Rs19 lakh and assured his full assistance in this regard.
