Street play on domestic violence held

SHILLONG: North East Network Meghalaya, in observance of the 16 Days of Activism on Gender Based Violence 2015 had conducted a one day street play on December 4, which was organized in collaboration with the students of first semester Master of Social Work, Martin Luther Christian University.
The street play in Khasi and English was executed in three commercialized areas of Shillong starting from Rynjah proceeding on to Police Bazaar and concluding in Polo.
The students enacted plays depicting instances of domestic violence to comprehend various kinds of abuse (economic, physical, social, psychological and emotional) and ways in which they can receive psycho-social help from a crisis support centre for women called Iohlynti-a joint initiative of North East Network and the Department of Family and Child Welfare.
Flyers about the center were disseminated to the public along with chart displays on violence against women.
