State cops nab theft accused in Srinagar

SHILLONG: Meghalaya police in collaboration with cops in Srinagar nabbed an employee of city-based Kashmir Emporium accused of stealing Rs 2 lakh from his employer’s residence here on December 5.
The owner of Kashmir Emporium, Inayat Shah had lodged a complaint that his employee, Shakib Gulzar had stolen Rs 2 lakh from his residence before absconding.
The State police traced the accused who was heading to his hometown Srinagar and accordingly, officer in charge of Laban police station, BK Mishra contacted Raniwari police station in Srinagar following which the accused was apprehended.
A team of Meghalaya police comprising of Mishra and officer in charge of Mawlai PS, BB Lamare reached Srinagar to take custody of the accused.
The accused was produced in a local court in Srinagar on Sunday and the court awarded transit remand to take Gulzar to Shillong.
