SHILLONG: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed before the High Court of Meghalaya on Monday stressing the need to include non-Municipal areas under the jurisdiction of MUDA Building Bylaws for the sake of safety of the buildings.
An official source said on Tuesday that one Tirot Sing Syiemlieh filed the PIL seeking the intervention of the Court. Earlier, during the meeting between Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and the traditional heads under the banner of Synjuk ki Nongsynshar Shnong Ka Bri U Hynniewtrep on November 5 last, the State government had assured the delegation that no building bylaws will apply to scheduled areas.
