NONGPOH/SHILLONG: Centenarian Beronica Khriam (107) along with Health Minister AL Hek laid the foundation of the Senior Citizen Wellness Home at Umtrew village in Ri Bhoi District on Thursday.
The Umtrew Health Sub-Centre was also inaugurated by Hek.
The Umtrew Health Sub Centre is being sponsored by the National Health Mission (NHM) at a sanctioned amount of Rs 26 lakh.
Speaking during the inauguration, Hek lauded the village authority for its keen interest in cooperating with the government for proper utilization of the funds for the construction of the government structure which will help the residents of the area.
He also said that it is the endeavor of the government to provide basic health care facilities to the people.
Among others present on the occasion were Umsning Legislator, Celestine Lyngdoh, District Medical and Health Officer, Dr. L.M Pdah, Umtrew Rangbah Shnong David Kharnaior.
