NGT violations continue in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: Violations of NGT order on coal mining continue to be reported from different parts of the State.
On December 22, police arrested two persons – Dres Dkhar and Aibor Langshiang – while they were extracting coal from a coal quarry owned by one Phoida Maruh at Thlumuwi in West Jaintia Hills.
Earlier on December 21, I. Laloo, SDO(C), Amlarem, detected one coal-laden truck (ML 04A 9532) driven by Wanlam Nongpluh, which was transporting coal in violation of the NGT order at Pynthorlangting in West Jaintia Hills. Police arrested the driver along with two helpers of the truck identified as Jurki Talang and Tolding Dkhar.
On the same day, police detected one coal-laden truck (AS01AC 6873), while transporting coal in violation of the NGT order at Soo Kilo in East Jaintia Hills. On seeing the police, driver of the truck fled away.
Again on the same day, police detected two coal-laden trucks (ML04A 5640 and another without registration plate) which were transporting coal in violation of the NGT order at Rymbai road area in East Jaintia Hills. On seeing the police, drivers of the trucks fled away.
