Exposure trips of MCA
Shillong: Meghalaya Cricket Association in preparation to the forthcoming Associate Members tournament of BCCI has arranged for a number of matches for different age category. While in the U-16 category two matches with teams from Assam has been completed at Shillong, the MCA U-19 team has gone to Agartala to play 02 matches on 28th and 29th of this month with Tripura U-19 team at MBB stadium. Moreover the Secretary of MCA and newly nominated member to BCCI NADP committee is interacting with president of Cricket Association of Bengal Sourav Ganguly to organise few matches in Kolkata and Cricket Academy, Kalyani for the U-19/23 state team. These matches will provide the much needed exposure and experience to the players. Such tours both within and outside the state shall be an annual feature in MCA calendar both during and in the off season. Further, the inter district tournaments in U-16 and 19 category has been completed while in U-23 category last few matches remain and the inter zone finals of the tournament is schedule at Tura on January 5.
Guwahati Combine wins Exhibition Cricket Match
Shillong: Guwahati Combine U-16 defeated MCA U-16 by 94 runs in the U-16 Exhibition Cricket match organized by Meghalaya Cricket Association at Polo, Shillong. Guwahati decided to bat first and scored 172 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the 35 overs. Rahul Das scored 42 runs off 41 balls and Atul Singh scored 39 runs off 48 balls. While Aryan Borah took 3 wickets for 39 runs and Wilco Marak took 1 wicket for 30 runs for MCA. In reply, MCA were all out for 78 runs in 28.3 overs. Ranjan Yadav scored 23 runs off 53 balls. While Monikarna Sharma claimed 3 wickets for 11 runs and Atul Kr. Singh took 1 wicket for 3 runs for Guwahati.
Mumbai Garuda emerge inaugural PWL champions
New Delhi: Putting up a sparkling show in the final showdown, Mumbai Garuda outclassed Haryana Hammers 7-2 to clinch the inaugural Pro Wrestling League title, here on Sunday. High on confidence after winning all their previous matches in the tournament, Mumbai started as the favourites in the grand finale on Sunday and successfully lived up the expectations with a comfortable win. In the final, none of the categories were blocked as all nine bouts were fought and Mumbai ended up unbeaten in the event. Down 1-2, Mumbai Garuda won their next four bouts on the trot to claim the trophy after the seventh match itself, making the last two ties inconsequential. Mumbai won the back-to-back bouts through captain Adeline Gray, Giorgi Sakandelidze, Odunayo Adekuoroye and Odikadze Elizbar. Last two inconsequential bouts were also win by Mumbai. (PTI)
