Meghalaya comes 3rd in Digital India week celebration

SHILLONG: Meghalaya has bagged the third spot among the best performing states in the field of Information Technology (IT) during Digital India Week.
Informing this, PBO Warjri said that the State has performed well in 2015 in the field of Information Technology (IT).
Chhattisgarh got the top spot followed by Himachal Pradesh.
Union Communication and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad handed over the awards to the winners on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Prasad announced that India Post will launch its payment bank by March 2017.
As many as 40 international financial conglomerates, including World Bank and Barclays, have shown interest to partner with Postal Department for the payment bank, Prasad said.
The Reserve Bank granted in-principle approval to 11 applicants, including Postal Department, in August to set up payments banks.
The Union Minister also announced the launch of free incoming all over the country by MTNL from next year.
It may be reminded that the Central government launched the Digital India Week on July 1 and that the Meghalaya Government will be observing the Digital India Week from July 2-7. (With inputs from PTI)
