Two persons arrested for lifting coal from Baija Reserve

TURA: Two persons were on Tuesday night arrested by East Garo Hills District Administration officials for lifting coal from the Baija Reserve Forest near Williamnagar.
The arrested persons have been identified as Rastar Marak and Pitingstone Sangma. A Bolero pick-up truck bearing registration number AS 19c – 8180 loaded with coal was also seized along with the arrested  persons.
The official who informed about the arrest has claimed that 4 to5 trucks are daily transporting coal through Chiading Road via Jengjal-Bajengdoba Road to Assam under the very nose of police and forest departments.
