SHILLONG: The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJPYM), the youth wing of the BJP, has slammed the State Government for not releasing the supply of fertilizers to the farmers. The supply was stopped last year.
In a meeting held on Saturday, BJPYM president, Egenstar Kurkalang said that fertilizers should be released to the farmers so that they can go about their task without any hassle.
The youth wing members said that also met the Director of Agriculture on Monday but the latter did not give any assurance with regard to the release of fertilizers to the farmers.
Kurkalang asserted that the party will do all it can to prevent the Government from “harassing the farmers.”
“We will send a memorandum to Chief Minister Mukul Sangma in this regard,” he said.
Kurkalang clarified that they are not against organic farming but farmers should not be deprived of fertilizers
