SHILLONG: An 18-year-old teenager who was involved in the kidnapping of another boy from Mendipathar has been arrested by police.
It was on January 6 that one Md. Mokkan Ali lodged a complaint that unidentified miscreants abducted his minor son, Mestafizul Rehman (11) from New Colony, Mendipathar, North Garo Hills the same day.
Later at around 7.30 pm, he received a phone call wherein the caller demanded Rs. 50 lakh as ransom for the release of his son.
In this connection, Police arrested one Biswajit Adhikary (18) from New Colony, Mendipathar and on his leading, Police conducted raid at Singrapara village, Goalpara, Assam and rescued the victim, but the abductors managed to escape.
