12 children escape from Nashik remand home

Nashik: Twelve juvenile offenders escaped from an observation home in the early hours of on Monday in North Maharashtra. The inmates of `Kishor Sudhargrih’ (children correctional home) scaled the protection wall of the facility at around 3 AM and ran away, Vilas Sable, Principal of the remand home, said. The Maharashtra Government-run detention centre for under-age offenders is near the central bus stand in middle of the city. Sable said a complaint has been filed with Sarkarwada Police Station. Acting on the complaint, police have launched a search for the children. Sable said strict action will be taken against the remand home staff members responsible for the incident. The observation facility has 40-45 staff members. (PTI)
