SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Indigenous Youth Federation (MIYF)  has expressed concern over the decision of the SDO Civil of Amlarem Division, Amlarem to defer a recently scheduled meeting to discuss issues related to limestone mining without any formal official information to the Convener of the Federation, Amlarem Circle.
With the objective to carry on with the demand on banning illegal mining of limestone in Nongtalang areas of War Jaintia, the leaders of the MIYF under the leadership of its Federal General Secretary Danny M Dunai, the Convener of Jaintia Hills Division of MIYF Esterwis Ryngkhlem had approached the SDO for the scheduled meeting recently.
However, the staff informed the meeting has been shifted to another date without informing the leaders of the Federation through an official letter. The Federation demanded that the Sub-Divisional Administration should stop the illegal mining of limestone and send a suggestion to the state and central authorities to carry on with the ban on limestone mining in Nongtalang areas.
