SHILLONG: The State Information Technology Department handed over laptops to meritorious students who excelled in the Class X and Class XII examinations (2015) of MBOSE, ICSE, ISC and CBSE at Yojana Bhavan here on Thursday. IT Minister AL Hek, Chief Secretary, P B O Warjri and Commissioner & Secretary, IT, D P Wahlang were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Hek said that while it was a proud moment for parents to see their children shine it also gave the government immense pride to be able to support and acknowledge the efforts of the young minds.
In his congratulatory note, the Minister encouraged the meritorious students to continue to strive for excellence and pursue their goals with the same dedication and commitment so that they can contribute towards nation building.
Giving his words of advice, Warjri said that the laptop is a tool to advance their studies and called upon the awardees to put it to excellent use.
