Parl panel members visit Mawkdok

SHILLONG: The members of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social Justice and Empowerment, led by its Chairman Lok Sabha MP, Ramesh Bais, who visited Mawkdok village on Saturday, asked people to take care of the education of both male and female children without any discrimination.
The delegation, during the visit to Mawkdok under Laitkroh Community and Rural Development Block, interacted with representatives of 12 villages of the area.
The delegation stressed on the importance of education and urged the parents and elders to put special thrust on the education of both female and male children for all round development.
Interacting with the village representatives of the area, the members of the committee called upon the villagers to avail the different schemes and programmes of the Central Government such as MUDRA, MNREGS, Jan Dhan Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana among others to uplift their socio-economic status.
Further, the members of parliamentary standing committee asked the people of the area to visit the bank managers and post masters to seek information on the various schemes available through these channelizing agencies and to avail the same for socio-economic uplift.
Also present at the programme were the Commissioner  and Secretary, Social Welfare Department, T.Dkhar, other government functionaries, representatives of the State Bank of India and members of Self Help Groups of the area.
