Agartala: Exclusion of Agartala from smart city list in first phase irked left front government in Tripura. Urban Development Minister Manik Dey lodged protest with Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday and said, “I am highly disappointed to see that Agartala is not included in the list.”
He, however, said Smart city proposal of Agartala was prepared as per guideline of the ministry and submitted within time. Even then it has not been selected in the first phase, which is astonishing.
‘I suspect the team responsible for evaluating the proposals has not done it properly.
Otherwise, I see no reason why Agartala should not figure among 20 cities,’ Dey alleged adding that except Guwahati no other city of the region got space in the list despite the propagation of inclusive growth for Northeast by Modi government.
He sought Naidu’s immediate intervention to include Agartala in the list. (UNI)
