SHILLONG: City-based contractor Teibor Pathaw, who had challenged the FIR lodged by the CBI on the alleged irregularities in maintaining employees’ provident fund and filed a petition in the High Court of Meghalaya in this regard, withdrew the same on Monday citing some defects in the petition.
The Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) had registered a case against Pathaw and two officials from NEIGRIHMS for their alleged collusion with the former in defrauding payment of Employees Provident Fund (EPF).
During the hearing on the matter on Monday, the petitioner’s counsel submitted that he wants to withdraw the instant petition on account of some formal defects in it.
“Considering the submission advanced by the counsel for the petitioner the matter stands disposed of on being withdrawn with a liberty to file afresh if so desired,” the High Court order said.
The contractor, Teibor Pathaw from Mawlai, who runs various services and the supply of work force including nurses, technical and non technical staff to NEIGRIHMS, had come under CBI scanner for not depositing the share of EPF of the employees appointed at the institute to the Provident Fund Commissioner.
The CBI has included two functionaries of NEIGRIHMS in the FIR since they were the ones who cleared the bills worth around Rs.50 lakh as claimed by Pathaw, but the EPF amount was not deposited out of the cleared amount.
