Man rapes woman with police ‘help’

SHILLONG: Police have failed to arrest one James who allegedly raped a woman, who was interestingly asked to accompany the accused by a man in uniform at Iewduh.
According to police, the incident happened on January 30 evening when an unidentified miscreant snatched Rs. 450 from  the women at Police Bazar and fled toward Iewduh.
Following this, she engaged  two boys to chase the thief. She also followed the boys. At Iewduh one person in police uniform took her to the nearby police station and directed her to go with James to a city hotel where the person raped her.
Meanwhile, East Khasi Hills district police chief  M Kharkrang  informed that a personnel from  Mylliem police  took  the victim to the Iewduh police station.
A case  has been registered in this connection, he said.
