SHILLONG: Former Chief Minister and Opposition leader Donkupar Roy has brought discrimination charge against the Congress-led government in allotment of schemes to the legislators.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, Roy said that the government has been partial in the allotment of funds especially for the improvement of road projects.
“I want to know whether the funds available in the state is equally distributed  to all the areas of the state  as there is discrimination on the part of the government”, the UDP leader said.
According to Roy, for the last 8 years, no road project was allotted to his constituency and it was only last year that metalling and black topping of 4 km road at Nongjri was carried out.
” I have many villages in the constituency, which do not have road connectivity. If I had received one scheme a year, I would have completed the construction of roads in several areas of my constituency within  a stipulated time.  Sometimes, I feel that since we are in the Opposition, we are denied projects”, Roy said.
The UDP leader also pointed out that the legislator from Mawsynram (P N Syiem) had also similar complaints.
“No MLA or person should feel that there is discrimination in terms of allotment of development projects,” Roy said.
