Rape complaint filed 15 years after alleged incident

SHILLONG: In an interesting development, a woman from West Jaintia Hills lodged a police complaint against one person almost 15 years after the alleged crime was committed.
In her complaint, the woman stated that in the year 2001, when she was 13 years old, one Tennyson Shadap had raped her at Nongtalang Shnongpdeng village in West Jaintia Hills as a result of which the victim had become pregnant and had given birth to a baby boy on August 3, 2002.
When contacted, Jowai police said they have registered a case and added that they would conduct a DNA analysis to ascertain the truth.
