JOWAI: The West Jaintia Hills district administration and the Jaintia Tourism and Environment Society will jointly organise the 10th Discover Jaintia Festival from February 24-27.
The festival will commence at the District Library, Jowai with a variety of competitions and performances including folk songs and dances, painting competition, creative writing etc., on February 24.
A “Discovery Run” will be held from KNGC to Jrisalein at 8 Am the next day besides a host of other activities.
Chief Minister Mukul Sangma will inaugurate the festival at Thadlaskein Lake at 4 pm the same day.
Cultural programmes, traditional fashion show and musical extravaganza including performance by the band, ‘Colours’ will follow.
On February 26, the festival will shift to Sniriang, Tuber, East Jaintia Hills with cultural programmes, exhibition-cum-sale, food fest, dingkum flying and para gliding activities lined up for the day. The festival will be held at Ialong Park on February 27 which will witness an “evening of thousand lights”, wine festival and musical extravaganza.
