SHILLONG: With reports of discrepancies in the implementation of National Food Security Act emerging, the Civil Supplies department has made it clear that opportunity for making claims and objections will be given to the aggrieved residents.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Director, Food and Civil Supplies, W. Khyllep said that at present there are two sections, those under Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Priority House Holds (PHH) which will avail the scheme launched based on the socio-economic caste census of 2011.
According to Khyllep, since the state is implementing the scheme for the first time, complaints are bound to surface.
“We will sort out the matter and genuine beneficiaries will be included in the list by way of claims and objections which will be carried out by the Deputy Commissioners as it is an ongoing process,” the official said.
He also said that a team of persons will also be sent to households to verify the cards. The official also asserted that government servants are not entitled to avail the scheme.
He urged the residents to lodge complaints if there is deficiency in the implementation of the scheme.
‘The people can call the toll free number 1967 and also send letters to the Deputy Commissioners as they are the grievance redress officers,” the official said.
The aggrieved parties can also send their complaints through the website, http://megfcsca.gov.in/
Under the scheme, the beneficiaries under PHH will get 5 kg rice and wheat per month at the rate of Rs 3 and Rs 2 per kg respectively per family, while the beneficiaries under AAY will get 35 kg food grains per month.
