SHILLONG: In the wake of the amendment to the Meghalaya Conduct and Service Rules, 1990, KHADC EM Lamphrang Blah asserted that it is not illegal to hold a government post and serve in a community based organization at the same time.
Blah was replying to a motion by Shella MDC T. Dkhar with regard to the problems faced by headmen following the amendment.
Blah informed that the KHADC Executive Committee will deliberate on whether to write to the State government to settle the matter.
It may be noted that the State Cabinet recently amended the Rule 20 (B) of Meghalaya Service and Conduct Rules debarring anyone in the service, except previous sanctions, to hold office or membership in any community based organizations, associations and traditional bodies excluding clan-based and faith based organizations.
