TURA/SHILLONG: The Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations, 2016 got underway on Wednesday amid strict arrangements for curbing the use of unfair means.
The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) has instructed the examination centre in-charge and invigilators to frisk students before the start of the examination to prevent any untoward incident.
So, day one of the examination passed off without any untoward incident in any of the examination centres.
There are a total of 127 examination centres with 54 in the Garo Hills region alone. There are 73 such centres in the Shillong region.
An MBoSE official said that incidents of question paper leakages had occurred in the past. But this time extra precautions were taken for this year’s board exams to prevent the same from happening, he added.
“There is very little chance of question papers being leaked in the board exams as the papers are being kept under lock and key in banks and police stations. However, now that the exams are underway, we can only wait and see. We hope that nothing untoward happens,” said MBOSE Deputy Controller of Examinations, T R Laloo.
In Shillong, the examinations conducted so far went without any disturbance as informed by Deputy Director MBOSE M. Marbaniang.
He further added that frisking was done only in sensitive centers.
