Committee formed in NGH to combat anti-socials

TURA: In view of militant related activities rampant in the area, a public meeting was recently organized by the Gairong Bazar Committee in North Garo Hills with a view to chalk out ways and means to curb such activities and to reduce the rate of crimes being committed.
During the meeting, the Gairong Area Joint Action Committee (GAJAC) was formed with Tomason Arengh as president, Gojendro Sangma as vice president, Indus D Shira as secretary and Merchant Marak as joint secretary besides  seventeen other executive members.
Several resolutions were taken during the meeting which included the mandatory information to the new committee on receipt of a demand note by any individual, information to the village Nokma in case of arrival of relatives from outside into a family and enquiry by the committee on the identity of any stranger entering the area, among several others.
The meeting was attended by the members of several non governmental organizations of the district uncluding the FKJGP, AAYF, Mothers’ Union among others.
