SHILLONG: Opposition member Saleng Sangma has asked the State Government to provide adequate medicines in PHCs and CHCs of the State.
Replying to a question by Sangma, Health Minister AL Hek said in the Assembly on Tuesday that as per needs, medicines are provided to the PHCs and CHCs by the health department. To a question, the Minister also said that regular inspections are being carried out at PHCs and CHCs in the State.  Sangma, however, pointed out that instead of waiting for distributing medicines after getting the requirements from PHCs and CHCs, the government should promptly provide medicines. He also said that in the absence of adequate medicines in PHCs and CHCs, patients from the outskirts of the city and towns are badly affected. To a question by Donkupar Roy (UDP), the Health Minister said that the CHCs and PHCs run buy NGOS should also ensure that there are adequate medicines in the centres.
