Over Rs 85 cr sanctioned for CM’s Social Assistance scheme

SHILLONG: Over Rs 85 crore was sanctioned for the Chief Minister’s Scheme for Social Assistance to single mothers, the infirm, widows and persons with disabilities from 2011-12 till 2015-16.
In reply to a question by Ardent Basaiawmoit (HSPDP), Social Welfare Minister Deborah Marak said that the total number of beneficiaries under the scheme is 63,186.
The Minister said that the rules under the scheme were amended to enable coverage of single mothers under the scheme through government notification on December 23, 2015.
Liquor limit
The permissible limit/quantity of retail sale of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) per individual from rural area is not more than 12 bottles of 750 ml.
In reply to a question by Donkupar Roy (UDP), Excise Minister Zenith Sangma said that penalty is imposed by a court of law under section 53(1) (a) of the Meghalaya Excise Act.
