Nation celebrates India’s unbeaten run over Pakistan in World Cups

KOLKATA: As soon as skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni pulled that short delivery from Mohammed Irfan for a single, Indian fans across the country took to the streets to express their joy and exhilaration as the men in blue beat Pakistan by six wickets in the 18-overa side thriller at the Eden Gardens here. Cricket fans from all over the country were seen dancing and chanting slogans of ‘India-India’ after the hosts defeated Pakistan to make it 11-0 in favour of the Indians in World Cup meetings. From BSF jawans dancing in their camps in Jammu, students, senior citizens across the length and breath of the country took to streets to celebrate the win against the arch-rivals. Fire crackers illuminated the night sky across the nation as Dhoni’s wife, Sakshi Singh Dhoni tweeted from Ranchi, ”Ppl outside my house …honking burning fire crackers …screaming …u guys r gonna wake up my daughter …. ” Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to the social networking site to congratulate the team. “Congratulations Team India for the amazing victory. #IndvsPak,” Modi tweeted from his personal handle. Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who is busy with the upcoming Assembly elections in Assam also tweeted, ”Many congratulations to the Indian team for winning the all important match against Pakistan in Kolkata.” BJP National President Amit Shah also congratulated the side and tweeted ”#Ind’s unbeaten track record against #Pak in World Cup continues.
