SHILLONG: BSF troops deployed at Tura, West Garo Hills, nabbed a GNLA informer identified as Masan Marak (59) of Rongramgri village under Rongram PS in West Garo Hills while he was waiting for Simphong B Marak alias Rongbat, the GNLA ‘area commander’ of North Garo Hills, at a waiting shed at Hawakhana near MDC Hostel, Tura.
One mobile phone with a Vodafone SIM, one knife, one sling bag and Rs 110 in Indian currency was recovered from his possession.
He revealed that he has been working with GNLA leader Simphong B Marak @ Rongbat as an informer since the last one year. He revealed that he used to provide information about ransom and extortion against businessmen and government officials. He also provided information against movement of special troops and logistic support to GNLA cadres.
The apprehended GNLA informer along with seized items was handed over to Tura PS for further legal action.
