SHILLONG: Bangladeshi politician Salahuddin Ahmed, who is facing trial for his illegal entry into Meghalaya, is currently lodged at Medanta, the medicity at Gurgaon, after a city court here permitted him to avail medical treatment there.
Earlier, a medical Board from NEIGRIHMS submitted a report to the court citing various complications in his health.
Three options were given to Ahmed, either to get treatment from AIIMS, Vellore or Medanta. After the public prosecutor stressed the need on the part of Ahmed to provide all the particulars including the temporary address at Gurgaon where he will be camping, the court allowed him to leave the station. Moreover, he also deposited his passport. Ahmed left Shillong on March 11 to get treatment for liver, heart and skin ailments from Medanta.
He will have to report back to the court in the first week of May.
It was on May 21 last year that police had arrested Salahuddin for his illegal entry into Meghalaya.
In February last, Dr. Stephen Sailo, HoD, Urology, NEIGRIHMS, was examined by the court in the presence of P. Lamare, Investigation Officer.
Till date, as many as five witnesses have been examined and cross examined.
