KHADC EC directs Hima to suspend lease, toll collection at Iewduh

SHILLONG: The Executive Committee (EC) of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has ordered the Hima Mylliem to suspend lease and toll collection at Iewduh until further orders.
At the same time, the ruling PDF through the Joint Secretary, KHADC, informed the Deputy Syiem of Hima Mylliem, Thwelson Manik Syiem, to convene a meeting on April 4 to quell the growing dissidence of a section of the Myntris against Latho Manik Syiem for his alleged role in financial irregularities.
The order was based on the report (February 29) submitted by the observers deputed by the KHADC during the meeting (Dorbar Pyllun) of the Hima Mylliem convened on February 18, the Joint Secretary, as directed by the EC KHADC, said in a statement.
It was revealed that the Chairman, Thwelson Syiem, who had presided over the meeting did not allow any Myntri to table their grievances/complaints against the Syiem/ Deputy Syiem.
In a statement sent to the Deputy Syiem, the joint secretary, KHADC revealed that as per report of the observers, the Syiem and Deputy Syiem have lost the confidence of the majority of Myntris and electors of the Hima.
In this connection, a meeting will be convened on April 4 at 1 pm at MDC hostel to quell the growing dissidence.
