Waiting for the dead to come back to life!

SHILLONG: Belief in miracles can lead humans to defy logic and medical science. Mawlynrei village in East Khasi Hills is witnessing an unusual situation where the family of a dead farmer, killed by lightning, has refused to remove his body from the spot with the belief that he would come back to life.       The young farmer identified as Shanborstar Mawthoh (19) died when a lightning struck him at around 2 PM while he was working in the village field on Thursday.
The family of the deceased has decided to keep his body at the place of occurrence of the incident for three days and three nights expecting that a miracle will happen which will bring him back to life. It has been learnt that the family has also prohibited anybody from touching the body during this time.
When contacted, the village headman O Pyngrope confirmed the incident. He said that the village dorbar does not want to interfere into the matter as it relates to the sentiment of the family.
“They have decided to wait till three days and three nights for their son to come back to life. We have to respect their sentiment,” he said.
