Aid to cyclone victims: Headmen’s body thanks all for quick response

SHILLONG: The Synjuk ki Nongsynshar Shnong ka Bri u Hynniewtrep (SNSBH) has expressed gratitude at the quick response of the Dorbar Shnong and others in sending relief to the victims affected by the recent cyclone.
In a statement issued here, it was informed that the Synjuk led by its secretary, R.L. Blah visited the affected sites at Pynthorbah, Umpling, Nongrah and Mawlynrei on April 6 followed by a visit to Nongmynsong and Nongpathaw the next day and Nongkhlaw on April 8.
According to the Synjuk, while 46 families were affected in Pynthorbah, 68 in Umpling, 26 in Mawlynrei, 4 in Nongrah, 70 in Nongmynsong, 20 in Nongpathaw and 37 in Nongkhlaw were on the receiving end of the cyclone.
The Synjuk lauded the efforts of the MLAs, MDCs, Deputy Commissioners of East and West Khasi Hills for their quick response. It also praised the MeECL for its swift action.
The Synjuk has urged the affected people to come forward and seek its help if necessary.
MLA comes to the rescue
Meanwhile, Sanbor Shullai, MLA cum chairman and members of the “MLA Charitable Council”, South Shillong extended financial support and relief materials to the cyclone victims in the constituency.
The affected families were provided with cash and CGI sheets besides other relief materials amounting to Rs. 50000 funded through MLA salary earnings.
A statement in this regard said that the local MLA has taken up the plight of the residents with the Government for full financial support in their rehabilitation.
