SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has said that the outcome of the Assam Assembly polls will surprise many. Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, Sangma also predicted a tie between the Congress and the BJP. “As per my readings, both Congress and BJP will get 55 seats each while the other smaller parties will take the remaining seats,” he said.
Reacting to a query on what the high turnout of voters signified, Sangma said that a huge number of youngsters participated in the election which meant that everybody wanted to be a part of the democratic system.
He also lauded the Election Commission of India for aggressively sensitizing people on the need to vote.
