SHILLONG: The HYC has urged Health Minister, AL Hek to appoint a regular doctor at Mawlasnai PHC as the doctor in-charge of the PHC has taken leave since 2013.
Hercules Suting, president HYC, Raid Nongtung Circle, while speaking to reporters said that the minister has assured to take the matter seriously as the negligence of the doctor who was on leave since 2013 is a cause of concern.
“The absence of a doctor at the PHC has created problems for the people and as of now a doctor from AYUSH takes care of the patients. The doctor cannot implement any of the sanctions from the Health Department as the doctor in charge is absent,” Suting said. On the other hand, the organization has appealed to the Health Minister, to start the functioning of Thadrang Sub Centre which was constructed since 2005.
In this connection, Hek assured the delegation to look into the matter and he informed them that the Sub-Center could not function as water supply was not provided till date.
