Shillong: The Civil Services Day was observed in the conference room, DC’s Office, Jowai on April 21 where D. M. Wallang, ADM, S C Laloo, ADM, D Kharsati, ADM, I Laloo, SDO (C), Amlarem Sub Division, EACs and all District officers of various departments came together to celebrate the day.
D.M Wallang in his address said, ”as civil servants, we need to remember that the work we do is for the public, therefore we need to dedicate ourselves and be at service of the public”. He also urged the civil servants to be humane in their relationship with the public. Others who spoke on the occasion were Isawanda Laloo, SDO (C), Amlarem Sub-Division, Amlarem, R. Muthu, Superintendent of Police, West Jaintia Hills.
Later, D. M. Wallang inaugurated the West Jaintia Hills Basin Development Unit office Room in DC’s office, Jowai and also released the Community Newsletter.
The Civil Services Day was also observed at District Resource Centre at Baghmara on the same day.
The Deputy Commissioner, South Garo Hills District, S N Marak in her address said that all the Government servants are very much part of bureaucracy and are part of civil servants. Additional Deputy Commissioner, South Garo Hills District, T G Momin highlighted on the less privileged people and the need to render services towards them.
District Informatics Officer, Elliver Marak , A C Marak, ADC, PR Marak, EAC among others also spoke on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the Civil Services Day, 2016 on the theme, ‘Civil Services -The flag bearer of ‘continuity & change’ in governance’ was also celebrated at the Multipurpose Complex, Deputy Commissioner’s Office, South West Khasi Hills District.
Speaking on the occasion, R Lyngdoh, Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi Hills District, Mawkyrwat said that civil servants have played a major role towards upliftment and taking India into greater scale of heights and the demand for this century is trained young people where the focus is on skilling India.
W. Biam, ADC, South West Khasi Hills District, H. G. Lyngdoh, Superintendent of Police, South West Khasi Hills District, D. Kharshiing, EAC and S. Ch. Momin, EAC, South West Khasi Hills District also spoke on the occasion. An interactive session was also held with members of the public ‘on their expectations from the Civil Servants’.
