SHILLONG: Complaints and counter FIR were registered after the High Court of Meghalaya ordered for registering a complaint of city based businessman Gajendra Singh who sought the intervention of the court following an assault case against him in January this year.
Singh lodged a complaint  that on April 14 he was summoned by the in-charge of Cantonment Beat House P.C. Sangma, where one Shiv Shankar Prasad, who was already present there threatened him to leave Shillong or face dire consequences. Further, on April 12, the accused had also assaulted the complainant.
However, the FIR registered by the police does not mention anything about the harassment meted out to Singh by the OC, PC Sangma.  Earlier, on April 12 Shiv Shankar Prasad lodged a complaint that during the month of October 2014, Singh took grocery items valued around Rs. 4 lakh from the shop of his relative, Madan Kumar Gupta at Mawlonghat.
Later, Singh paid Rs. 1 lakh and absconded as per the FIR.
On April 12, 2016, Shiv Shankar met Singh at Mawlonghat and asked him to pay the remaining amount, but the latter allegedly threatened him.
It may be reminded that the High Court of Meghalaya on Thursday asked SP, East Khasi Hills and officer-in-charge cantonment Police Beat House to register the FIR against the assault of Singh after his FIR was not acted upon by the SP (City) since January this year.
The petitioner Singh, through his counsel informed the Court that he was threatened by the Officer-in-charge Cantonment, Police Beat House and another constable on January 12 after being summoned to the police beat house. The petitioner was also assaulted by Shiv Shankar at the same time as per the FIR.
The incident took place when they were drinking inside the police station.
