SHILLONG: A woman hailing from Tpep Pale, Jowai has lodged a complaint that her brother-in-law, one C. Khonglam from Mawlai Kynton Massar and his driver P. Mulieh of Ialong, Jowai had sexually abused Khonglam’s two minor step-daughters – aged 14 and 12 years each – in his quarter at DTO office, Jowai in West Jaintia Hills. The accused also threatened them with dire consequences.
Though the incident is said to have occurred between 2014 and July, 2015 while the minor children were staying with him in his quarter, the matter came to light only recently.
The delay in filing the FIR was because after the death of the minors’ mother, who was also the complainant’s sister, the children were taken care of by her and it was only then that she came to know about the crime.
As per the FIR, the accused Khonglam used to force the minors and their mother (his wife) to consume alcohol and would then sexually abuse them.
Though they objected, he used to beat them and threatened them with dire consequences, the FIR stated.
A case was registered at Jowai police station under various sections of POCSO Act and Juvenile Justice Act. However, no arrest has been made so far.
Juvenile attempts to molest minor sister
