SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers Association (MUPSTA), East and West Jaintia Hills, held its general meeting recently at Tpep-pale community Hall, Jowai and reiterated the demand for provincialization of schools and colleges.
The meeting was presided over by regional president of MUPSTA, E.G. War.
In the meeting, MUPSTA general secretary R.R. Ronghang asked the teachers to strengthen the organization within the district and at the state level.
Other speakers including MUPSTA president Kenneth Shadap said it is the duty of the chief minister and the cabinet to take a final decision on the provincialization of schools as demanded by JACATAM.
JACATAM made it clear that it would not rest until the government implements the genuine demand for provincialization and regularization of the service of teachers from pre-primary to the college level.
