SHILLONG: The employees of GHADC on Wednesday gheraoed the office chamber of Deputy CEM, Augustine R Marak accusing him of insulting the female employees of the Council.
The employees also demanded the resignation of Marak for his alleged rude behavior with the women staff.
They also submitted a memorandum to the GHADC CEM, demanding that all pending salaries of the employees should be paid within two days besides calling for the clearance of all pending bills within the same period.
The GHADC employees threatened that if the pending bills were not cleared within two days, they will put the office of the Council under lock and key from May 2 till their outstanding salaries were cleared.
GHADC Dy CEM clarifies on allegations against him
Meanwhile, reacting to the allegations Marak said that he had informed the women employees, who met him on Tuesday, that there was no relief fund at the moment and that arrangement was being made to release a month’s salary for the time being.
However, the same was not acceptable to the employees.
“I requested them to be patient but since they were not willing to listen, I merely told them that they could leave,” he said.
Marak also denied the fund misuse charge made against him and claimed that the demand for his resignation was politically motivated.
He also made an appeal to the employees to call off their stir to ensure the smooth functioning of the Council.
