Guwahati: Taking a step ahead of the poll results in Assam, the BJP is readying itself for a complete organisational restructuring of the party unit.
The party will conduct organisational polls, which will start in BJP’s grassroots level.
The state unit of BJP will have new president, irrespective of party performance in the state.
BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) Ram Lal and National General Secretary Ram Madhav reviewed party’s performance in the recently-held Assembly elections on Saturday in Guwahati.
The meeting was attended by Members of Parliament, all candidates, district committee office bearers and election agents.
A senior BJP leader said, “In June, organisational polls will start across the state. We have been asked to wrap up the polls, which include elections in zonal and district units within one-and-a-half month. ”Whatever may be the outcome of the polls, the state will see a new state unit chief,” he added.
The leader said, “During elections we have seen that we need to expand our base more in the Upper and Lower Assam areas. There is need to reach out to new areas and start grassroots organizations in those areas. We will soon make effort in this direction.”
Madhav expressed confidence that BJP and its alliance partners, AGP and the BPF would be able to form the next government in the State as the people of Assam came out in large numbers to exercise their franchise.
The meeting also discussed the strategy of the party for the May 19 when ballots will be counted. (UNI)
