HC gets new judge

SHILLONG: The Delhi High Court judge Justice Ved Prakash Vaish has been appointed as a Judge of High Court of Meghalaya.  He will have to assume office by May 23.
A PIB statement said on Tuesday that in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 222 of the Constitution of India, the President, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India has transferred Justice Vaish as a Judge of the Meghalaya High Court and directed him to assume charge on or before May 23.
Currently, the High Court of Meghalaya is functioning with Chief Justice Dinesh Maheshwari and Justice SR Sen. There are two more vacancies to be filled.
After Justice Vaish assumes office, the High Court will  have a full Bench.
The name of senior advocate from the state HS Thangkhiew has been proposed as the fourth Judge of the High Court, sources said adding  that the proposal was awaiting clearance.
In other reshuffle of the Judges, the President transferred Justice Tinlianthang Vaiphei, Judge of the Gauhati High Court, as a Judge of the Tripura High Court.
Justice Satish Kumar Agnihotri, Judge of the Madras High Court, was transferred to Sikkim High Court.
