Vengsarkar arrives in city

SHILLONG: Former India Captain and present Chairman of National Cricket Academy Dilip Vengsarkar arrived in Shillong on Sunday. He then drove straight to the cricket ground from Umroi airport accompanied by Honorary Secretary MCA. He was received at the ground by the officials of Meghalaya Cricket Association, Shillong Cricket Association and Shillong Cricket Academy. He interacted with the 25 players from 05 NADP states attending the 21 days camp and discussed with the coaches and other support staff of NCA regarding progress of the camp. Vengsarkar also addressed the young budding cricketers of the academy and reminded them that there is no substitute for hard work and commitment and recalled his young days where he also had to double as scorer besides playing before he got his break to play for Mumbai in Ranji trophy at the age of 18 years. He expressed his happiness at the enthusiasm of the youngsters and appreciated the parents who were present in the ground, for encouraging their children to take up cricket. Meghalaya Cricket Association in a function on Monday evening will officially welcome and felicitate the legendary cricketer where officials of the state government and other associations will be present.
