SHILLONG: In its bid to improve mobile connectivity in land locked Meghalaya, state owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to invest in 100 new towers in the current financial year.
Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday on the occasion of World Telecom Day, BSNL General Manager, NE1 Circle, K.K. Saxena, assured that efforts will be made to ensure improved bandwidth connectivity in Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura.
Stating that special emphasis was being laid on the introduction of Next Gen technology, Saxena also stressed on the importance of creation of business through the telecom circle.
He pointed out that various customer friendly schemes were launched to ensure upgraded connectivity and for this, BSNL has introduced a scheme whereby there will be no installation charges for new landline connection.
He also asserted that connectivity has improved on the G.S. Road and added that WiFi hotspots would be launched for improved 3G coverage and efforts will also be made to further improve the 4G coverage.
