Mawlyngad stone mining polluting river: FKJGP

SHILLONG: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia Garo People’s Union (FKJGP) alleged that the rivers where the locals use for various purposes have been polluted due to the stone mining activity at Mawlyngad.
FKJGP Mawryngkneng Circle along with FKJGP Mawlyngad Unit visited the river and found that  it was polluted .
The locals complained that the water is not as clean as it was before, and fishes could not survive in the contaminated water.
The organization informed that they will approach the concerned  authorities regarding the matter.
