SHILLONG: Meghalaya police has made tight security arrangements in the State capital in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two day visit to the State from Friday.
East Khasi Hills district police chief M. Kharkrang said central paramilitary troopers have been deployed throughout the city in addition to local battalions.
According to Kharkrang, Special Protection Group (SPG) commandoes have already arrived in the city.
“We have deployed our officers and men in all important places,” Kharkrang said.
Reacting to a query about the huge traffic congestion expected on Friday, he advised people to avoid the main peripheral roads and instead take long cuts to avoid traffic jams.
