BSF mistook me for a smuggler, clarifies Indian national

SHILLONG: An Indian national, Swoth Lyngkhoi (36), who was apprehended by BSF personnel on charges of smuggling wood to Bangladesh, termed the allegation as baseless.
In a statement issued here Lyngkhoi claimed that he was a mere spectator of the event.
“My house is very close to the Simsang river and on May 2, I was mistaken for a smuggler after I came out of the house on hearing a commotion,” he said adding that the Officer-in Charge of Baghmara Police Station also gave him a clean chit.
It may be mentioned that BSF troops deployed at Baghmara, South Garo Hills apprehended two Bangladeshi Md Harjad Ali (25) and Md Sahil Miya (24), and Lyngkhoi while they were trying to smuggle wood on a raft through Simsang.
